Parkinson Wins National Safe Design Award

Parkinson Aquatic Centre has been awarded ‘Excellence in Aquatic Safety - Innovative and Safe Design’ as part of the National Aquatic Industry Safety Awards.

The awards are an initiative of the National Aquatic Industry Safety Committee to acknowledge the achievements of aquatic facilities and individuals towards improving health and safety outcomes within their communities.

Craig Roberts, National Manager Aquatic Industry, Royal Life Saving Society – Australia said ,“By celebrating the excellent work being done by individuals and organisations, our goal is to motivate people within the industry to increase the level of safety for their community, cultivating an environment where health and safety initiatives are continually being reviewed and developed.”

“Parkinson Aquatic Centre was recognised for their development of an innovative facility with safety at its forefront.”

The vision began in 2015 when Brisbane City Council, City Venue Management, Liquid Blu Architects, and Spantech construction collaborated to deliver a new facility that was innovative and well in advance of the city’s minimum standards.

Parkinson Aquatic Centre was designed with clear supervision, accessibility and inclusiveness. The attention to detail and small initiatives across the board, such as a central control room with uninterrupted views of both pools and front entry, open family showers, and a reception with 360 degree views of the venue make a huge impact on the operation of the centre and safety of the community.
