The National Aquatic Industry Safety Committee met on 17th and 18th April 2018. The following is a summary of the meeting.

10 Year Analysis of Drownings in Aquatic Facilities
The NAISC was presented with a published copy of the RLSSA Published 10 Year Analysis of Drowning in Aquatic Facilities Report. The report which analysed 10 years of Fatal and Non Fatal Drownings in Australian Public and Communal Pools. The Committee then work-shopped and discussed at length 2 significant issues from the report being the Supervision of Children in Public Pools and the the reform of Incident Data Collection from aquatic facilities. A range of items were discussed which will form an agenda item for the next meeting in September.
Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations
The NAISC reviewed a total of 79 paragraph sections from the Public Comments for the Supervision Sections of the GSPO. A considerable amount of debate was held throughout the process. A number of Guidelines have been ratified with a further 17 comments to be further assessed by July 2018 with the intention to endorse a final version of the Guidelines by September 2018.
