CPR performed on swimmer at North Mackay pool

A swimmer required CPR after getting into 'difficulty' while in the water at a North Mackay swimming pool on Tuesday. The Pioneer Swim Centre staff pulled the 23-year-old man from the water, after he cried for help.

Snr Sgt Rieck said other swimmers and swimming pool staff were shocked and shaken by the incident.

"Staff rescued the man from the pool and noticing that he has a medical emergency they began CPR," he said.

Paramedics arrived soon after and transported the swimmer to Mackay Base Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
