Royals Team Takes Second in Lake Argyle Swim

It was amazing weather in a breathtaking location as a team from Royal Life Saving WA once again took part in the Lake Argyle Swim for 2019, taking out second place in their category - the 10km Quad!

The Lake Argyle Swim is a world renowned event that gives participants an opportunity to not only experience the thrill of the race, but also provides them with an unsurpassed Aussie outback adventure. Situated 75 kilometres from Kununurra, Lake Argyle covers 980 square kilometres at normal water levels - 21 times bigger than Sydney Harbour.

This year's swim sold out within just five hours, with teams and individuals keen to take on the challenge. The Royal Life Saving team included General Manager Community Relations Greg Tate - swimming for the second year in a row - Board Member Vaughan Davies, Pilbara Development Officer Jacqui Forbes and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries Regional Manager Pilbara Simone Fountain (who also just happens to be a 2000 Olympic Games Water Polo Gold Medalist for Australia!).

Greg Tate says the experience was amazing once again! "Well done to all our fantastic volunteers, skippers, paddlers, sponsors and our swimmers. I personally thoroughly enjoyed the entire Lake Argyle experience and sharing this time with the team. We're already looking at options for including teams in next year's event!"

The swim was followed by an amazing Gala Dinner which was hosted by Adrian Barich, and also featured a presentation from 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist Belinda Stowell.

We'd like to congratulate all our team members and volunteers for their fantastic efforts, and we look forward to seeing all that is to come for the 2020 Lake Argyle Swim!
